Cloud Deployment

Understanding cloud-hosted AI analytics and what it means for your deployment

What is Cloud Deployment?

Cloud deployment flow: cameras upload over the internet to cloud analytics and dashboards
In cloud deployment, camera feeds are processed on cloud servers and viewed from anywhere.

Cloud deployment means running your analytics software on servers hosted by a cloud provider — such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or a managed cloud operated by your software vendor. The hardware and infrastructure are maintained remotely; you access it over the internet.

In a cloud deployment, you do not own the physical servers. You pay for compute capacity, storage, and bandwidth as a service. The cloud provider handles uptime, hardware maintenance, and network connectivity. Scaling up or down — adding more cameras, more processing — is done through configuration rather than purchasing new servers.

Cloud deployments are typically categorised as public cloud (shared infrastructure) or dedicated cloud (isolated compute reserved for your organisation).

What Cloud Deployment Means for Your Pixuate Solution

When a Pixuate product is deployed in the cloud, camera streams from your site are sent over the internet to cloud servers for AI processing. Results — detections, alerts, events, reports — are returned to your dashboards and integrations in near real-time.

What this looks like in practice

  • Camera streams leave the premises. Video or analytics data is transmitted to remote servers. A stable, bandwidth-sufficient internet connection at the site is required.
  • Centralised management. Multiple sites can be monitored from a single cloud dashboard. Useful for organisations with many locations.
  • No on-site compute required. You do not need a GPU server or edge device at the camera site — only cameras and a network connection.
  • OpEx model. Cloud analytics is typically priced as a subscription rather than upfront hardware purchase.

Best suited for

  • Multi-site retail, parking, or facility monitoring with centralised reporting
  • Organisations with strong internet connectivity at each site
  • Deployments where OpEx pricing is preferred over capital hardware investment
  • Use cases where real-time sub-second latency at the edge is not critical
