Intrusion Detection

Software-based perimeter and intrusion protection that raises real-time alerts when a person or vehicle crosses a boundary line, enters a restricted zone, breaches a site perimeter, or climbs a fence. Uses your existing IP cameras as a replacement for physical sensor fences — covering indoor restricted areas, outdoor site boundaries, and after-hours zones from a single edge device.

Key Features

Discover the powerful capabilities that make Intrusion Detection stand out

Virtual line-crossing (tripwire) detection with direction awareness

Zone intrusion — alert on entry into any defined restricted area

Perimeter breach — monitor a site's outer boundary or fence line

Fence-jumping and climbing detection

After-hours and schedule-based arming — zones active only during set hours

Person and vehicle detection with object-class filtering

Low false-positive design — filters wind, lighting changes, and small animals

Instant alert with evidence image and video clip

Multi-zone, multi-camera coverage from a single edge device

Fully software-based — no PIRs, sensor wires, or fence hardware required

Technical Specifications

Detailed technical information about Intrusion Detection

Camera:2MP+ IP CCTV (RTSP)
Deployment:Edge device or on-premises server
Detection:Configurable tripwire lines and polygonal zones per camera
Triggers:Line cross, zone entry, perimeter breach, fence climbing, after-hours presence
Output:Event type, zone/line ID, object class, direction, timestamp, image and video clip

Prerequisites & Limitations

What Intrusion Detection needs to run reliably, and the operating limits to plan for.

Prerequisites

  • Camera: 2MP+ IP/RTSP covering the boundary line, zone, or fence to be monitored
  • Adequate illumination — pair with an IR illuminator for night-time perimeter coverage
  • Stable bandwidth between camera and edge/server — roughly 4–8 Mbps per 2MP H.264/H.265 stream
  • Mounting for a clear view of the boundary with minimal obstruction from foliage or glare
  • Stable power and network at the deployment point

Operating Limits

Factor Edge Server
Incident / event capture rate≤ ~5 events per second≤ ~20 events per second
Concurrent camera streams per node1–4 streams (Jetson TX2 / Orin)8–16+ streams
Minimum person/object size in frame≥ ~40 px height≥ ~40 px height
Event-to-alert latency< ~1 s on-deviceDepends on network round-trip

Indicative figures — actual limits depend on hardware, scene, and configuration.
